چکیده

Multiple Pulses in Air Technology, or MPiA, is a new technology allowing airborne LIDAR systems to be used at higher pulse rates than previously possible. By allowing the airborne LIDAR system to fire a second laser pulse prior to receipt of the previous pulse’s reflection, the pulse rate at any given altitude can be effectively doubled. Getting past the limitations imposed by the speed of light and conventional single-pulse-in-air LIDAR technology allows the airborne LIDAR system to achieve the desired point density at twice the coverage rate or, conversely, for twice the point density to be achieved at conventional coverage rates. Though announced publicly in 2006, it was not until well into 2007 that commercially-available MPiA-equipped systems were fielded. The technology can now be considered “mainstream”, and is actively being used on a variety of airborne LIDAR data acquisition projects. This study will present an overview of MPiA technology in the context of a large area survey project in Alberta, Canada. In addition to the consideration of MPiA technology in this project, implications on other facets of project organization will be presented. Overall results will be given, proving the ability of MPiA-equipped systems to achieve a nominal 2:1 productivity increase over that of conventional systems * Corresponding author.

The Optimization of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Pulse Sequences in Order to Better Detection of Multiple Sclerosis Plaques

Background and objective: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the most sensitive technique to detect multiple sclerosis (MS) plaques in central nervous system. In some cases, the patients who were suspected to MS, Whereas MRI images are normal, but whether patients don’t have MS plaques or MRI images are not enough optimized enough in order to show MS plaques? The aim of the current study is ...

A Practical Desalinization Model for Large Scale Application

Salinity of soil and water is the most important agricultural hazard in arid and semi-aridregions. In saline soils, yield production directly influences by soluble salts in the root zone aswell as by shallow water table depth. The first step for reclamation of such soils is reducingsalinity to optimum level by leaching. The objective of this study was to develop a practicalmodel to estimate wat...

Conditional Random Fields for Airborne Lidar Point Cloud Classification in Urban Area

Over the past decades, urban growth has been known as a worldwide phenomenon that includes widening process and expanding pattern. While the cities are changing rapidly, their quantitative analysis as well as decision making in urban planning can benefit from two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) digital models. The recent developments in imaging and non-imaging sensor technologies, s...

A New Approach for Assessing Lidar Data Accuracy for Corridor Mapping Applications

There is a growing demand for high-accuracy elevation data collected by airborne or terrestrial mobile lidar systems in utility corridor surveys. Large-scale projects demand more stringent accuracy of lidar data under strongly variable survey conditions challenging lidar signal detection capability with extremely wide signal dynamic range. While accuracy specifications are provided by the lidar...

Practical Application for Estimating the Crown Density of Conifers Using Lidar Data

The crown density is related with the hierarchical structure of the trees and one of the most important factors considering the biological diversity. This study focuses on the advantage of the LiDAR data, and we tried to estimate the crown density of conifers using the 3-dimensional distribution of the LiDAR pulses. The targets were selected from 13 areas of Hinoki and 10 areas of Cedar tree sp...
